There seems to be a new trend in threads that put forth an idea concocted for solo farming/ Droknar-running/ etc... and asking people's opinion of it.

I get the sense that they want to get some advice before they try it out. Why don't they just try it and see what the weaknesses are? In 5 minutes of gameplay they can learn what's wrong with their solo-build (or PvP etc.) instantly - instead of posting a thread and reading all the opinions and flames they get.

Even a potentially good build can be criticised to pieces in a forum just because it might be unusual.... but the odd combinations are where the newest build strategies come from. If someone with a unique build was intimidated by the flaming and decided to change it entirely then we'll never know if it had the makings of a future classic build.

i think people do it for the chance ot be recognized, the chance that they might get an outsider's view to help solve a problem they've been having (or improve in a way they hadn't seen), or that they honestly wan the opinion of more and/or better players.

Those would be my top three guesses.

As for me, I think of something, run in with what I think would work, see what I don't use/has no real potential for use/could be replaced by something better and keep on trucking.

I'm actually gonna try a new (well, I havent seen it used, yet) build. If its alright in random arena, ill invite some people to group pvp on it and see how it works.

as for monkey's thing of a chance to be recongnized, its more annoying than anything. if they want a build just for solo or running, go copy and paste a damn build. i really couldnt care...
